Not bad! Best way to improve your shapes and lines is training your hand to draw them in one stroke. Practice that til it becomes second nature!

As for the colours; I recommend drawing towards one direction for a smooth, flat finish - or draw according to the shape if you're after a textured look - in multiple coats with similar colours, much like paint! It'll take time, but it'll look much richer.

Absolutely beautiful piece. I really hope that we will reunite with our lost animal families in the afterlife. There's no doubt in my mind that dogs are the closest things to angels.
